Celebrating 10 years
As we look back over 10 years we thought it might be good to remind ourselves of some of the achievements of RODS.
2006 Parent support and information packs have been developed, printed and donated to Rotherham Hospital.
2008 update .. these packs have been used regularly to give to new parents by hospital staff and more packs are required and soon to be delivered.
We made a difference!
Fundraising . There are too many partners to mention them all from the past 10 years but we must make particular mention of the Rotherham Lions who have supported us every year from the very first cheque received. Thank you !
Education Seminars. In collaboration with the Down's Syndrome Association, we have funded and co-ordinated 2 education seminars held at the Carlton Park Hotel and Hellaby Hall Hotel. These attracted the best speakers in the country and education professionals from all over the North of England.
Trips Out - Chester Zoo, Twycross Zoo, Eureka!, Skegness, White Post Farm, Magna .... to name a few.
Everybody loves a Christmas Party. We've had some great Christmas Parties - don't miss this years party at Brinsworth Community Centre. With childrens entertainer "Sparky Marky". Saturday 29th November 2008, 4pm until 8pm.
Its all about people. One of the most important activities of RODS has been supporting and visiting new parents of a child with Down's syndrome. This work is always done with great sensitivity and many people have benefitted from this over the past 10 years. This vital work will continue and will always be at the core of what we exist for - supporting each other. Additionally, we have supported families who need help with educational issues, visiting schools, attending meetings, working with families and the LEA to find solutions.
10 pin bowling - these events have brought in £000's over the years as well as a lot of publicity and to help raise awareness.
