The Next 10 Years
This year marks our 10th anniversary. This is an achievemnt we are very proud of and to mark this special year we have organised more events, including the upcoming meal for parents and carers.
We would like to say a great big Thank You and Well Done to all those people who volunteer their time and effort for the cause of supporting people with Down's syndrome and their families. Your contributions are invaluable.
However we need to continue to build for the future and our greatest concern is the long term sustainability of our participation in the type of events we have been a part of this year.
We understand how busy everyone's lives are and this also applies to those who generously give their time to organise events or volunteer to help out, raising funds which are critical to the income of RODS and without which we would be unable to fund trips out, christmas parties, pantomime tickets etc.
All out events are always open to all our members and this will continue to be the case, it has to be. What would be fantastic is, if every member who enjoys any RODS event that they have been to, would consider volunteering a small amout of their time at some other event during the year. The difference we could make as a group would be enormous. We could spread the load amongst many, rather than onto a few. And heres's the good news - you don't need any specific skills to sell raffle tickets at our 10 pin bowling night or give out leaflets for an hour at the Rotherham Show.
Once again, thanks to all who have contributed over the past 10 years and lets work together to build for the future so that the work we do continues to flourish for the sake of those children as yet unborn.
